Ms. Hattie Margaret McNellis of Wallace, NC departed her earthly life on Saturday afternoon, June 13, 2020 while at Duplin Vidant Hospital in Kenansville, NC. Born on September 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Hattie Jane Walker McNellis. She was also preceded in death by a sister--Rosa Lee McNellis.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister--Kathy Bradshaw and husband Horace of Wallace; cousins--Gene Walker and wife Dorothy of Hope Mills and Carol Rainwater and husband John of Mobile, AL; nephews--Horace Bradshaw, Jr. and wife Jamie of Magnolia and Steve Bradshaw and wife Tracey of Magnolia; great nephews--C.J. Bradshaw and wife Brianna of Richlands, Allen Reaves and wife Allyson of Teachey, Jacob Bradshaw and Tyler Bradshaw of Magnolia; great nieces--Robin Bradshaw of Magnolia and Alyssa Bowden and husband James of Clinton; and special great nephews and nieces--Brennan Bowden, Amelia Bradshaw, and Ethea Bowden.
Ms. McNellis worked for most of her career in the Duplin County Department of Social Services where she performed many different functions during her thirty-three year tenure. After college and prior to social services, Ms. Hattie was employed in the Duplin County ASCS office in Kenansville for six years. She was of the Methodist faith and worshipped at the Charity Methodist Church in Charity.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Madison-English Cemetery on NC Hwy 41 in the Northeast community of Wallace. In lieu of flowers, family has requested that consideration be given to a contribution in her memory to the St Jude Children's Hospital.
