August 22, 1913 ~ December 29, 2020 (age 107) 107 Years Old

Jennie Wells Obituary

Jennie Mae Horne Wells of Rose Hill, North Carolina departed her earthly life on the early morning of Tuesday, December 29, 2020 while at Duplin Vidant Hospital in Kenansville, NC.  Born on August 22, 1913 in Onslow County, she is the daughter of the late Robert Henry and Dollie Bryan Horne.  She was also preceded in death by her husband--Edwin Delana Wells, Jr.; siblings--J. B. Horne, Harry Horne,  Graham Horne, Herman Horne, Grace Carr, Nannie McLamb, Madeline Waldo, and Doris Stowe.

Left to cherish her memory are her son--Robert Daniel Wells and wife Brenda of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren--Jason Daniel Wells of Fayetteville, Kristen Ann Wells of Cornelius (NC), and Melissa Anne Mercer and husband Gary of  Fayetteville; great grandchildren--Alexys Ann Lundberg and Baylie Nicole Lundberg of Fayetteville, Ashleigh Hodges of  San Antonio (TX), and Jonathan Mercer of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Wells was born in Onslow County and was a farmer's wife for many years after her marriage to Edwin Delana Wells, Jr.  She was also a licensed practical nurse and worked in physician offices in the Rose Hill area including the office of Dr. Hawes.  She and Mr. Wells were dedicated members of the Rockfish Presbyterian Church in Wallace where she served in her circle work for many years and he in many different roles in the church.  During her free time, she enjoyed reading and quilting.  For the last several years, she has resided in the Gardens of Rose Hill.

A graveside service to celebrate her life is set for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2nd, 2021 in the Rockfish Presbyterian Church cemetery in Wallace.  Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the Wells family.
