Jesse C. Savage, Jr. of Teachey, NC departed his earthly life early Friday morning, March 13, 2020 while at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington. Born on March 2, 1923, he was the son of the late Jesse Cleveland and Fannie Register Savage. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Lela Fussell Savage and seven brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish his memory are his children--Michael Savage and wife Della of Castle Hayne, Brenda Collins and husband James of Elkin, Betty Martin and husband Tony of Fort Mill, SC, Tommy Savage and wife Debra of Wilmington; grandchildren--D. Savage, Tonya Guyton, Kim Bauguess, Lee Jackson, Zachary Savage, and Lindsey Savage; great grandchildren--Sam, Joshua, Madison, Alison, Emily, Henry, Eleanor, and Mary Blakeley; sister--Robbie Knowles.
Mr. Savage worked a good portion of his career as an agent with the ASCS office in Duplin County. He was also a farmer. He was an easy going, laid back, soft spoken man who enjoyed working in his garden and fishing. During his later years, he became very interested in wood working and made many items from wood. Family asks that memorial contributions be considered to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare of Wilmington or Corinth Baptist Church of Rose Hill.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 10:00 am at Corinth Baptist Church in Rose Hill. A service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the service in the Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace.
