Jo Ellen Herring Pistner of Wallace, NC departed her earthly life on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 while at Brian Center of Wallace. Born in Duplin County on July 16, 1948, she is the daughter of the late Joseph Cleveland Herring, Jr. and Ellen Wood Fussell Herring.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband--Michael Pistner; children--Michael Dean Pistner of Wallace, Joseph Patrick Pistner and wife Deborah of New Milford, Connecticut, and Amy Michelle Darboe of Wallace; siblings--Paula Kay Herring of Wallace and Joseph Cleveland Herring III and wife Kathy of Wallace; and very special friends--Ann Powell, Catherine Herring, Sue Brooks, and Bonnie Harney.
Mrs. Pistner loved her sea shells and collected them from the east and west coasts whenever she could. They were used to decorate her entire house along with her vast supply of sea horses. She loved playing the piano also and, according to family, it gave her "release". Above all else on earth, and even more than shopping, she loved her family dearly.
There will be a service to celebrate her life at Poston Baptist Church in Wallace on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Fussell Family Cemetery in Rose Hill. Flowers are welcome or please consider a contribution to Poston Baptist Church general fund.
