Kilby Woodrow Watkins, Jr. of Wallace departed his earthly life prematurely on Friday, November 6, 2020. Born on January 11, 1985, he was the son of Vanessa Gideon Watkins and the late Kilby Woodrow Watkins, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a brother--Danny Glenn Watkins.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife--Vanessa Erin Wurtz Watkins; mother--Vanessa Gideon Watkins; children--Brody Woodrow Watkins of Pink Hill, Ivy Watkins of Wallace, and Anthony Lowery of Wallace; sister--Jenelle Wood of Rose Hill; grandfather--Allen Ray Padgett of Surf City; uncle--Bobby Gideons and wife Tammy of Willard; aunt--Cathy Watkins of Wallace; nephew and niece--Spencer and Kaytlin of Rose Hill; Brodys mother--Amber Murphy of Pink Hill; and numerous cousins.
Kilby was currently employed as a heavy equipment operator with the County of Duplin. He was a fun loving and easy going young man who enjoyed a good laugh and having a good time. Time at the beach, boating, fishing, hunting, coaching his children in sports, and outdoor activities were his favorite things to do while away from work. He valued the most, though, his time with family and friends.
A graveside service to celebrate his life is set for 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Brice Cemetery in Wallace. The family will receive at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00pm Tuesday. The family asks that, rather than floral arrangements, contributions be considered to the funeral home for funeral expenses. Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the Watkins family.
