Mrs. Laura Kathryn Wells Lytle, age 80 of 7901 Pinecrest Road, Raleigh, died Friday evening July 13, 2012 at Wake Med Hospital in Cary, NC after a brief illness.
She was the widower of the late Ervel Charles Lytle, Sr. and is survived by her three sons, Theodore \"Ted\" Graham Lytle and wife Sandra Jill of Morgan Hill, CA, Ervel Charles Lytle, Jr. and wife Helena of Casper, WY and Michael \"Mike\" Francis Lytle of Raleigh, NC, five grandchildren, Taylor Lytle of Los Angeles, CA, Virginia \"Ginny\" Rae Lytle of San Ramon, CA, Charles Anthony Lytle of Livermore, CA, Amanda Carolyn Lytle of San Diego, CA and Ashley Christine Lytle of San Jose, CA, one sister, Dorothy \"Dot\" Rollins of Warsaw, NC and a large number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Wells Updike and Mary Elizabeth Wells Lanier and one brother, Graham Wells, II.
Born in Wallace, NC, Mrs. Lytle was the daughter of the late Graham and Frances Madge Johnson Wells Sr. She graduated from Wallace High School in Wallace, NC in 1950. Many people remember her as Laura, however, her mother and family always called her Kathryn. While working as a candy striper in Fayetteville, NC, she met and married E.C. Lytle Sr. The Family later moved to California where she worked as a night duty operator for eight years at Monterey Bell. She was always known to be an extremely caring woman who insisted the family move back to Wallace following her mother suffering a stroke. Thanks in great part to Kathryn's determination to get her mother healthy again, Madge lived to the ripe age of 100. Many of her nieces and nephews and cousins consider her their \"other\" mother because of her love and devotion to family. Kathryn was a devoted Christian who worked diligently at Wallace United Methodist Church taking on numerous responsibilities.
A memorial services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Wallace United Methodist Church in Wallace, NC conducted by the Reverend Bob Kretzu. The family will receive at Padgett Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, July 27.
