Laverne (Brock) Blanton

Laverne Brock Blanton, 83, of Wallace, NC passed from her earthly life during the early morning of Monday, June 13, 2022, while at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Wilmington.  Born on July 9, 1938, she is the daughter of the late Preston Earl and Mary Elizabeth Giddeons Brock.  She is also preceded in death by her husbands—Preston Brown, J.D. Blanton, and Charlie Daniels; siblings—Leslie “Buddy” Brock, Bobby Brock, Pauline Moore, and Kenneth Earl Brock; and a child—James Earl Brown.

Left to cherish her memory are her children—Kay Tyndall and husband Norman of Kenansville, David Vance Brown and wife Sherry of Wallace, and Dennis Ray Brown and wife Anne Sue of Rose Hill; grandchildren - Georgiana Whaley, Ashley Holmes, Jessica Smith, J.P. Brown, Benjamin Bonham, Christal Peterson, Daisy Lee and Chris Tyndall; twelve great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.  She was born in Pender County and spent a great part of her life there while working in textiles as a finishing inspector.  She was a generous and good hearted lady who would give the “shirt off her back” to one who was in need.  Bingo and shopping were activities in which she made time to participate.  Cooking in general and cooking those wonderful Sunday dinners were a real treat in which she could spend time with the family she loved so dearly.

A memorial service to celebrate her life is set for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022 in the chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services of Wallace.  Dr. Ronald Ginn will officiate Mrs. Blanton's memorial service.
