Leslie James "Buddy" Brock

Leslie James “Buddy” Brock of Wallace, NC departed his earthly life on the early morning of Thursday, July 22, 2021 while at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.  Born on August  26, 1939 in Pender County, he is the son of the late Preston Earl and Mary Elizabeth Giddeons Brock.  He is also preceded in death by his wife—Linda Richardson Brock; siblings—Pauline Moore, Bobby Brock, and Kenny Brock.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter—Leslie Renee Maready and husband Jesus of Wallace; the granddaughter he raised—Leslie Kelsie Smith; step daughter—Patricia Pigford and husband Mark of Willard; step son—Michael Smith and wife Jessie of Etters, PA; grandchildren—Shane Hines, Justin Hines, Hannah Hines, Leslie Grace Maready, Emily Pigford Wall, Abigail Pigford Jones, Anna Pigford, Tyler Smith, Jacey Smith, Harley Smith, Alexis Swinson, and Brenan Smith; sister—Laverne Brown and husband Charlie Daniel of Wallace; and mother-in-law—Doris Richardson, who he truly and dearly loved. 

Buddy was a very well known personality in Wallace.  For many years, he operated a towing business in the Wallace area and helped most of the members of this community at one time or another.  He was always full of jokes and was eager to share them with anyone he encountered.  He truly enjoyed being with others and enjoyed sharing his opinion with them.  After retirement his interests changed and he was then interested in golf, “Jeopardy”, “Wheel of Fortune”, and “Maury”.  His greatest love on earth was his love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren and it always excited him to see them.

 A service to celebrate his life is set for 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 25, 2021 in the 401 West Main Street chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services in Wallace.  Family will greet friends at a 2:00 pm visitation prior to the service.  Interment will follow the service in Riverview Memorial Park of Watha.
