Lottie Melvina Dail Lloyd of Rose Hill, NC, left her earthly life for her eternal rest on Friday night, March 8, 2019 while at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on September 18, 1929 in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Mary Lee Henderson Dail of Pin Hook. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband—Staff Sergeant Orland Lloyd; son—John Lucas Lloyd; sisters—Etta Pierce and Joyce Pierce; brother—L. D. Dail; great grandchildren—Kenneth Lee Ballard and Brandon Lloyd.
Lottie was a loving and caring Mother, Nannie, and Grand Nannie. She was an army wife and followed Orland from North Carolina to Colorado to Georgia and to Germany twice—always doing her best to make it home. But no matter where she went, she always came back to her roots in Duplin County. She loved taking care of children. She was a foster mother to 45 children and babysat countless others. She had a “heart of gold” and would do anything for anybody.
Lottie loved the Lord and her church—the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pin Hook. She will truly be missed by all.
She is survived by daughters—Vivian Rabun of Glendale, AZ and Debbie Turner and husband Richard of Ninety Six, SC; son—Darryl Lloyd and wife Olivia of Kenansville; sister—Elizabeth Pierce of Pin Hook; brother—Kenneth Dail and wife Anita of Pin Hook; grandchildren—Cheryl Amerson, Tiffany Ballard, Katie Bauer, Sabrina Hernandez, Lesley Lloyd, Tracy Mercer, Matthew Rabun, and Ricky Turner; great grandchildren—Christopher, Brandon, Angel, Cheyenne, Timothy, Anthony, Austin, Cody, Alexis, Carter, Aaliyah, Aiden, Lesley, Shane, Joshua, and Melvina.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pin Hook. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm at the church. Interment will be in the Dail Cemetery on NC Highway 50. Memorial gifts can be made to Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
