Mary Faye (Southerland) Mobley

Mary Faye Southerland Mobley of Wilmington, NC departed her earthly life for her Eternal home late in the evening of Saturday, October 9, 2021, while at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.  Born on June 22, 1941, she is the daughter of the late Hercules and Lillian James Southerland.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter – Cindy Mobley Jarrett and husband Richard of Wilmington, NC; step-son – Michael Henry Anders and wife Robertina of Erlangen, Germany; grandchildren – Luke Chandler Jarrett and Mason Grant Jarrett of Wilmington, NC, Celina Anders and Rafael Anders of Erlangen, Germany; brother – Jimmy Southerland and wife Charlotte of Teachey, NC; sister-in-law – Nancy Perkins of Plant City, Florida; nephew – Bart Southerland of Wallace, NC along with many nieces and nephews in Florida.

Faye knew her Lord well and lived her life eagerly anticipating going home to be with Him.  She lived knowing eternity with Him was assured by His grace and mercy.  Having lived here on earth in His presence, she now has the assurance that He is in control and He is the rewarder.  She shares the same desire as her brothers and sisters in Christ.  She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many.  A nursing career which began in bedside nursing in the hospital and nursing home settings, led to other opportunities with Red Cross of NC, Head Start, Medical Review of NC and DRG Coordinator for New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  Her “watch dog” nursing methods in one-on-one care gave her the ability to diagnose issues which might not be obvious to others.  This was a tremendous help in caring for her grandchildren in more than one instance.  She spent a great deal of her spare time in reading and was also a very good writer.

The family asks that, rather than floral arrangements, consideration be given to a contribution to Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center.

A memorial service to celebrate her life is scheduled for 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Winter Park Church of Christ – 2122 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28403. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 11:00 A.M.  Officiating will be Ed Lewis.  Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services is proudly assisting the Mobley Family.
