Neill Henry Davis, Jr. , or "Mike", as he was known, departed his earthly life late Friday evening while at home. Born on November 22, 1952 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of the late Neill Henry Davis, Sr. and Mary Madeline Printz Davis. Also preceding him in death are daughters--Charlotte Davis and Shelby Davis; son Neill Davis III; sisters--Judy Willis and Elizabeth Sheehan; brothers-in-law--Bill Rinker and Merle "Wheels" Sponaugle; and best friend "Mowgli".
Left to cherish his memory are his wife--Shelley Denise Hawes Davis; son--Christopher Michael Davis and wife Beth of Broadway (NC); daughters--Shawna Renee Peterson and husband Mike of Watha, Mary Madeline Davis of Wallace, and Rochelle Gwen Jenkins and husband Jeris of Post Falls, Idaho; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters--Barbara Sponaugle of Dayton (WV) and Donna Rinker of Harpers Ferry (WV); brothers-in-law--Stanley Hawes, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Charlestown (WV), Everett Willis of Wallace, and Butch Sheehan of Inwood (WV); numerous nieces and nephews; very special friend Isaac Georgiadis of Wallace; and his canine daughter "Bella".
Mike was born in the Frederick County area of Maryland and enlisted in the United States Marines in 1970. He and his wife settled in Wallace, North Carolina where they raised their five children. A truck driver for thirty-three years, there was a passion in him for his livelihood. He liked to bowl, fish, hunt, and golf during his spare time. He also had an interest in building race cars for a period of time. Considered the "rock of the family" which loved him very much, he truly loved his family and it was obvious to all who knew him.
A service to celebrate his life is set for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2020 in the chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services. The family will greet friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home Officiating will be the Reverend Kim Harris of Sanford.
