Peggy Glenda Brinkley Sholar departed her earthly life on Thursday, July 8, 2021 while at home. Born on December 16, 1946 in Duplin County, NC, she is the daughter of the late Buren Uriah Brinkley, Sr. and Elene Carter Brinkley. Also preceding her in death is a sister—Faye McLamb.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband—Davy Alford Sholar; children—Debbie Fussell and husband Carl of Surf City, Gwen Rivenbark and husband Brian “Skeeter” of Wallace, and Brent Sholar and wife Christina of Teachey; grandchildren—Haley, Hannah, and Hillary Rivenbark of Wallace, Amber Murphy and husband Steve of Pink Hill, and Andrew Fussell and fiance’ Amanda Harvell of Rose Hill; great grandchildren—Brody Watkins, Kate Fussell, Oliver Fussell, and Amber Murphy; siblings—Lynda Hollingsworth of Wallace, Buren Brinkley, Jr. and wife Sharon of Willard, and Kaye Willard of Rose Hill; special grand dog—“Caydee”, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sholar was born in Duplin County and spent much of her life there. Much of her work life was in the textile industry in several local plants. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, bowling, and crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and the time she spent with them. Upon occasion, she was known for her “feisty” nature, but not often, and did not mind telling one what she thought about an issue, but in her sweet and loving nature.
Family will receive friends at a visitation at 6:00 pm til 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in the chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services in Wallace. A graveside service to celebrate her life is set for 3:00 pm on Monday, July 12, 2021 in the Nickson-Pierce Cemetery on Hwy 50 in Pin Hook.
