Verlie Joyce (Quinn) Wells

Verlie Joyce Quinn Wells of Wallace, NC transitioned from her earthly life to her heavenly home on the early morning of Monday, May 9, 2022, while at The Gardens of Rose Hill, with family very near.  She was born on October 31, 1925 and is the daughter of the late Elzie and Beulah Batts Quinn.  Also preceding her in death are her husband—Jack David Wells; grandson—Josh Dormagen; son-in-law—Joe Dormagen; and siblings—Elizabeth Quinn Davis, Tom Quinn, and Afton Quinn.

Left to cherish her memory are her children—Joyce Ange and husband Gary of Wallace, Dave Wells and wife Gloria of Wallace, and Jackie Dormagen of Gurnee (IL); grandchildren—David Ange and fiancé Katie Day of Wilmington, Mary Blair Young and husband Matt of Wallace, Jenna DeBord and husband Pete of Pleasant Prarie (WI), Elizabeth Merritt and husband Jeffrey of Garner, Jennie Lee Aretakis and husband Gus of Wilmington, and Ellie Newton and husband Michael of Wallace, and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Wells was born and raised in the Magnolia area.  She was a loving and caring mother and thought the grandchildren were “the best thing that ever happened to her”.  She gained many friends during her years in Wallace through her bridge club and her Eastern Star family.  The church family was also very dear to her.  Her seamstress talents were obvious in her many sewing creations. 

A graveside service to celebrate her life is set for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in the Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery of Wallace, NC.  Family relates that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be considered to the Wallace Presbyterian Church—Post Office Box 717—Wallace, North Carolina 28466.
