Virginia Ruth Hall King of Wallace departed her earthly life and entered her heavenly home during the early morning of Saturday, January 8, 2022 while at The Laurels of Pender in Burgaw. Born on September 7, 1929, she is the daughter of the late Louise Wooten and James Malcolm Hall, Sr. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years -- Daniel Hiram King; and a sister—Sylvia Walker.
Left to cherish her memory are her children—Susan King of Wallace and Lisha McMillan and husband Nathan of Watha; grandchildren—Jason Daniel McMillan and wife Hailley of Watha, Tracy McMillan Wiley and husband Chris of Summerville (SC), and Casey Johnson Matthews and husband Scott of Dalton (GA); great grandchildren—Makaela McMillan, Bradley Theusch, Bailey Matthews, and Scarlett Matthews; siblings—Betty Evans of Watha, Dorothy Perseghin of Burgaw, and Jim Hall and wife Tut of Wallace.
Mrs. King worked for many years as a cashier in Moore’s Seafood. She was a simple woman who enjoyed the important things in life such as meeting new people, talking, laughing, and cooking. She loved her church—Poston Baptist Church in Wallace—and attended most of the services as well as being a faithful member of the choir. Above all other things of earth, she loved her family.
A graveside service to celebrate her life is set for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022 in the Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace officiated by Reverend Merrell McCoy. Family requests that, rather than flowers, contributions be considered to Poston Baptist Church General Fund. Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the King family.
